PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dressing material for grinding wheel and manufacture thereof in the ground chip of whose pellet impurities are not mixed. SOLUTION: In a first process, the raw material powder of uranium dioxide is compressed and formed by a forming pressure 1-5 t/cm<2> . In a second process, a sintered body is produced by firing this formed part at the temperature of 1,650-1,790 deg.C in the reducing atmosphere filled by a mixed gas having hydrogen or the both of hydrogen and nitrogen. In a third process, the sintered body is smashed and the grain diameter body with 300μm or less out of the fine grain obtained by the smash is classified. In a fourth process, the fine grain obtained by the classification is mixed to the raw material powder of uranium dioxide by the mixing ratio of 5-80 wt.%. In a fifth process, the mixed powder is compressed and formed by a forming pressure 0.5-1 t/cm<2> . In a sixth process, the formed part is fired at 700-1,800 deg.C under the reducing atmosphere filled with a mixed gas having hydrogen or the both of hydrogen and nitrogen and the sintered body as a dressing material for grinding wheel is produced.
