<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burner used for processing a glass rod and capable of efficiently heating the glass rod without largely increasing the flow of oxygen, and to provide a method for flowing gases, suitable for the burner. SOLUTION: This burner for processing a glass rod is obtained by disposing one or plural oxygen-jetting openings 2 in a circular hydrogen-jetting opening 1, wherein the total cross-sectional area of the oxygen-jetting openings is 2-10% based on the cross section of the hydrogen-jetting opening. The method for processing the glass rod comprises using the burner for processing the glass rod and controlling gas flow rates to 20-100 m/s and 0.5-20 m/s at the oxygen- jetting openings and at the hydrogen-jetting opening, respectively.</p> |
