PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relax impact force when a polishing member is started to come into contact with a plate-like unit, by relatively tilting an edge part in the upstream of the polishing member relating to an edge part in the forward side in a conveying direction of the plate-shaped unit. SOLUTION: A glass plate 24 is conveyed by a glass plate conveyer, when the glass plate leads to a position of a polishing plate 84, its upstream edge part 84A collides against a forward side edge part 24A of the glass plate 24, the polishing plate 84 runs on the glass plate 24. According to movement of the glass plate 24, it goes to pass the downwardness of the polishing plate 84. The glass plate 24 is conveyed continuously with a space of distance d. Here, relating to edge parts 24A, 24B of the glass plate 24, by giving a tilt angleθto edge parts 84A, 84B of the polishing plate 84, in the space d between the glass plates 24, 24, impact force at the time when the polishing plate 84 is continued to run on the next glass plate 24, can be reduced.
