PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process that can exactly and readily obtain the results of pathological inspections by determining an enzyme as protease in a tissue in a shorter time than that required in the conventional process. SOLUTION: This relates to a pathological inspection process for determining an enzyme as protease and comprises (1) the process in which a biological sample as a cancer tissue slice or exudate from gingival sulci is brought into contact with a solution that contains a colloid of a metal and/or a metal compound with an average particle size of 0.001-0.5μm; and (2) the process in which the change in the solution caused by the mutual action between the specimen and the metal and/or metal compound is detected, for example, as a change in the hue.
