A vacuum source of a suction appliance, e.g. an extraction fan (3), is positioned under the preparation appliance (2) in the housing (1). The preparation appliance and filter unit (4) are easily removable from the housing which has at least one opening. The filter unit is guided along horizontal guides, and comprises at least one plate-shaped filter (4a, b, c). The filter unit and vacuum source are positioned below an intermediate shelf (5).
