A dye-receiving element for thermal dye transfer comprises: (i) a support having: (a) a composite film laminated to it; and (b) a dye-receiving layer, respectively; where: (1) the composite film consisting of a microvoided thermoplastic core layer and void-free thermoplastic surface layer(s) with a thickness of 3-6mu m; and where: (2) ther support comprises a latex-impregnated paper containing 18-40 pts. impregnated latex per 100 pts.wt. fibre. Also claimed are: (A) a process of forming a dye transfer image; and (B) a thermal dye transfer assemblage.
