PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarized lighting system having high efficiency, high luminance of illuminating light, and low power consumption by effectively conducting polarization separation. SOLUTION: A device A1 is provided with a fluorescent lamp 1, a light guide body 3 for causing light from the fluorescent lamp 1 to be incident on one side face 3a and guiding the incident light to between an upper face 3d and a lower face 3c perpendicular to the side face 3a and parallel to each other, reflection plate 5 arranged on the lower face side 3c of the light guide body 3 for reflecting the guided light, and a polarization separation plate 7 arranged on the upper face 3d side of the light guide body 3, penetrating P polarization light, a certain polarization direction component in the guided light, and reflecting S polarization light, a component perpendicular thereto. By effectively conducting polarization separation, high efficiency, high luminance of illuminating light are achieved, and moreover with low power consumption. |
