Method for arrangement and use of a pay reception service for text messages, such as a receiving service for electronic mail, with a mobile telephone set by using a short message service in a telecommunications network. The telecommunications network includes a mobile network for connection of the mobile telephone set to the telecommunications network. The mobile network includes a short messaging service exchange for offering of the short message service. The telecommunications network also includes a text message server for reception, recording, and forwarding of a text message intended for the mobile telephone set onto the mobile telephone set in the telecommunications network. According to the invention, the reception service is arranged by sending the A-subscriber number code of the mobile telephone set to the server and changing the reception charge balance or creating an entry to form the reception charge balance. The reception service is used by checking the reception charge balance and/or by sending a text message to the mobile telephone set. <IMAGE>
