PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel - parallel conversion circuit which is suitable to a fast serial communication circuit. SOLUTION: The parallel - parallel conversion circuits 103 and 203 are placed between a tree type MUX (multiplex)/DEMUX (demultiplex) circuit and a coding circuit and have the conversion functions with which the product of the input bit number and the input frequency is equal to the product of the output bit number and the output frequency to convert a signal having 400 Mbps with 10 bits into another signal having 500 Mbps with 8 bits, for example. Then the fast MUX and DEMUX circuits and an encoding circuit of 8 bits and a decoding circuit of 10 bits are combined together into a fast serial communication circuit by means of the circuits 103 and 203.
