When depressed, the air pump (3) in the brush handle expels toothpaste from the handle container (2) onto the brush (1). Pump (3), container (2) and brush (1) are integrated into the toothbrush handle, pumping paste via valved (5) channel to the brush. Additional components include the protective cap (5) and channel valve (4) to open and close this as required. Container (2), pump and brush are screwed to one another giving a container diameter of maximum 25 mm.
