<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a deep colored pottery with appearance of clear and deep color tone by molding raw soil containing a specified amount of water to a desired shape followed by covering the surface with colored powder and then pressing the powder to effect its firm adhesion to the surface followed by baking the resultant molded form. SOLUTION: This pottery is obtained by molding raw soil as feedstock (such as kaolin, clay, mica, pottery stone or feldspar, being not limited, in particular; prior to molding, it is ground and kneaded according to conventional method) containing pref. 17-23 wt.% of water to a desired shape (e.g. ball shape) followed by covering the surface with colored powder pref. 5-1,000μm in particle size to the thickness of the resulting colored surface layer of <=1 mm (the colored powder is charged into a rotary vessel and allowed to adhere to the ball-shaped raw soil) and then pressing the powder to effect its firm adhesion to the surface followed by baking the resultant molded form at a temp. of 1,200-1,300 deg.C; wherein the amount of the colored powder (pigment) added is 1-30 wt.% based on the raw soil so as to be several weight percent in the pigment content of the final pottery. In the above case, when the surface of the raw soil is covered with the colored powder to some extent of thickness, the tackiness of the surface is lost, resulting in no adherence of additional colored powder to the surface.</p> |
