PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the processabilities in foam molding, vacuum forming and pressure forming of a styrene resin by using a processing aid consisting of aromatic vinyl monomer units and (meth)acrylic ester monomer units and having a specified weight-average molecular weight. SOLUTION: An aromatic vinyl monomer in an amount of 50-99 wt.%, preferably 70-99 wt.%, and a (meth)acrylic ester monomer in an amount of 1-50 wt.% are subjected to emulsion polymerization in the presence of an emulsifier selected from anionic, nonionic and cationic surfactants and a polymerization initiator to give a processing aid used for a styrene resin and comprising a copolymer having a weight-average molecular weight of at least 1,500,000, preferably at least 2,000,000. A styrene resin in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is blended with the processing aid in an amount of 0.5-20 pts.wt., preferably 0.5-10 pts.wt., and if necessary, a lubricant, a mold release, a coloring agent, an antioxidant, an ultraviolet absorber, a light resistance stabilizer, heat resistance improver, a filler, a flame retardant, a mildewproofing agent, etc., to give a styrene resin composition. |
