PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition suitable for being used for ink jet printing processes employing a microwave drying method, reduced in a corrosion action, having an antimicrobial characteristic, an excellent buffering characteristic and the like, and low in viscosity. SOLUTION: This ink composition comprises (A) water, (B) a coloring agent and (C) an additive selected from imidazolinium formate, imidazolium phosphite and their mixture. The component B includes dyes and pigments. The dyes are preferably water-soluble anion dyes and water-soluble cation dyes. The dye is preferably contained in an amount of 1-10 wt. % in the composition. In the case of the pigment, the pigment has an average-particle diameter of 0.1-1 μm. The amount of the pigment contained in the ink is preferably 2-7 wt.%. The amount of the component B in the ink is preferably 3-25 wt.%. The viscosity and pH of the objective composition are preferably 1-2.5 centipoises and 7-8, respectively. |
