PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve energy saving performance without worsening steering feelings while steering angle detection is not available. SOLUTION: A start condition 2 is adopted, which starts the electric motor in response to reaching of the steering angle change to a relatively low threshold (step S11) before a steering angle mid-point is determined (step S6) during driving at a low speed (step S5). Similarly, a start condition 1 is adopted, which starts the electric motor in response to reaching of the absolute steering angle to a relatively high threshold (step S8) near the steering angle mid-point (step S7) after it is decided during driving at a low speed. As a result, it is eliminated that the electric motor is started unnecessarily near the steering angle mid-point after it is decided. |
