Opening and closing arrangement for choke flap of internal combustion engine in motor vehicle

The arrangement has a drive device (11-13) for the choke flap (14) and a controller which controls the choke flap opening to follow the choke flap opening command value. The choke flap is held in an initial position in which it is slightly open when no force is applied by the drive device. The flap is driven from the starting position so as to first achieve a minimal opening smaller than the opening in the initial position, then to start opening.
