<p>A compact disc extractor system for moving a disc outwardly on a disc storage shelf (12) of a disc storage magazine to a position for uptake by a disc loader mechanism associatable with the disc storage shelf (12). The extractor system includes a disc storage shelf (12) with a shaft (18) movable longitudinally alongside a site of disc disposal on the storage shelf (12). The shaft (18) has a distal end with a spring-loaded extension (20) mounted thereto to be straight at rest and pivotal in a single plane. A stop (22) is situated on the disc storage shelf (12) to intercept and pivot the spring-loaded extension (20) of the shaft (18) upon longitudinal movement of the shaft (18) toward the stop (22) so that the extension (20) pivots to contact an edge of a disc and move the disc outwardly in a direction generally parallel to the shaft (18). Such movement thereby positions a portion of the disc outside the storage shelf (12) to permit disc uptake by a disc loader mechanism. The construction of the extractor system provides simplicity combined with efficiency in accomplishing rapid retrieval of stored discs for ultimate delivery to an operating mechanism for data retrieval.</p> |
