An apparatus for removing bottles fallen during transfer, comprising an arcuate transfer groove (15b) formed above an outer circumferential bottom edge (13a) of a rotary disc (13), and a fallen bottle discharge port (17) formed in the portion of a path formed by the arcuate transfer groove (15b) which is radially outer side of the rotary disc (13); and a method of operating the same, comprising transferring standing bottles (1a), which are being sent to an inlet (16a) of the arcuate transfer groove (15b), to an outlet (16b) thereof by the rotary disc (13) while supporting the standing bottles by an arcuate inner circumferential guide edge (12a) of the arcuate transfer groove (15b) with the guide edge in slidable contact with the standing bottles, and discharging a fallen bottle (1b) in the meantime toward a fallen bottle discharge port (17) by a centrifugal force of the rotary disc (13).
