A mixed conductivity perovskite-type substance contains an oxide of mixed ions and is used in the air electrode of a solid oxide fuel cell. The perovskite substance is of formula: A1-xCaxGa1-yByO3; A = lanthanide whose trivalent ion has an 8- coordinate ionic radius of 1.05 to 1.15 Angstrom ; B = Co, Fe, Ni or Cu; x, y = 0.05 - 0.3. The substance is used in an air electrode of either nickel or a compound of formula: Ce1-mCmO2; C = Sm, Gd, Y or Ca; and m = 0.05-0.4. An Independent claim is also included for a gas-separation membrane comprising the perovskite compound. |
