The present invention relates to a wheelchair with a four- part seat that opens and closes automatically and with delay, powered by springs 23 preactivated by the levers 21. The foot pedals are adjustable in terms of height and tilt via interchangeable pins 37, in harmony with the support and balance sleeves 36a and 36b, respectively, in collaboration with the inner columns 38, also having the spring-control lever 34 for powering the pedals forwards or backwards plus a removable lever 33 for the manual movement of the entire pedal assembly, a mechanism for adjusting the height of the seat and the component parts thereof, namely the back and the arm supports, having a vertical rack 53 fixed inside the lower column of the chassis 51 and an endless helical screw 58 at the lower end of the rotary shaft 57 supported by the support 59 functioning inside the column 30, and also having a removable crank 60 placed at the upper end of the rotary shaft after the latter passes to the outside of the column. <IMAGE>
