PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface emission semiconductor light emitting element having a high emission level in which the diameter of emission light can be decreased while reducing the cost. SOLUTION: The surface emission semiconductor light emitting element having a laminate of a plurality of semiconductor layers including an active layer 23 is provided with a cover 27 covering the active layer 23 and an emission surface 24a. The cover 27 is provided with a window 28 for emitting light to the outside, and a reflective surface for introducing emission lights from the emission surface 24a and the active layer 23 to the window 28. In addition to the light entering directly into the window from the emission surface and emitted to the outside, the light reflected on the reflective surface of the cover 27 is emitted to the outside through the window 28. Since the quantity of light being emitted through the window 28 is increased even if the diameter thereof is decreased, a high level emission light can be attained. |
