<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purifying device in an internal combustion engine, which can be miniaturized and laid out compactly, and which can enhance the regenerating efficiency of a filter. SOLUTION: This exhaust gas purifying device has such a structure that bottomed exhaust gas introducing pipes 18a, 18b are connected to a casing 5 accommodating therein filters 4a, 4b, in a direction in which the end faces of the bottom parts thereof face the inlet side end faces of the filters and in a condition in which they are entirely housed in an exhaust gas inflow chamber in the casing 5, at positions which are eccentric from the centers of the filters in the exhaust gas inflow chamber, and exhaust gas outlet ports 20 opened in a direction along the periphery of the filter, are formed in the peripheral surfaces of the bottom parts of the exhaust gas introducing pipes so that the filters and the exhaust introducing pies can be laid in the substantially same direction. With this arrangement, the device can be miniaturized and laid out compactly and exhaust gas directing toward the inflow ends of the filters is swirled, thereby a high collection density can be obtained which is required for gaining a high heat value for compensating thermal loss during regeneration of the filters.</p> |
