PENTAPEPTIDE, ITS PRODUCTION AND USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hypotensive agent with reduced side-effects. SOLUTION: The pentapeptide having L-amino acid sequence of H-Ala-Lys- Tyr-Ser-Tyr-OH is useful as a hypotensive agent with reduced side-effects. The figure is the chart of TOF-MS analysis of this pentapeptide. This pentapeptide is obtained by hydrolyzing the protein in laver (a kind of seaweed) and separating the peptide from the hydrolyzed mixture or by synthesizing by the usual liquid or solid phase process.
