Method of packing small cartons with objects at packing station

In a packaging process, a supply of small cartons with their contents are fed to a machine and grouped. Each group is then placed in an outer carton box whose blank is drawn from a stack and wrapped around the group. A sensor (5) is located above the incoming feed of small cartons and counts the number awaiting entry to the boxing machine. If the number of small cartons awaiting entry to the carton boxing machine falls below the number required to fill a single carton box, the sensor signals a halt to the carton boxing machine.
