The drive device (12) motor moves a lens system for the zoom objective forwards and backwards along the optical axis. A control device (22) determines the zoom direction and the zoom rate and a second control device (32) provides a rapid zoom function, with storage of the zoom position, for automatic return to the latter via a resetting device. A priority device provides the first control device with priority over the second control device.
