The manufacturing method uses a transparent support element (1) provided with a raised structure (7) at one surface (5) for defining function symbols (9,11), which are overlaid by a transparent, heat-resistant coloured layer (13,15), before covering the rmaining areas of the support element surface with a non-transparent material (17). The heat-resistant coloured layer may have different colours for different function symbols, obtained by applying a number of coloured layers and removing them until the required colour is obtained.
