A diaphragm type of flush valve comprises a valve member having a diaphragm 18 peripherally attached to the body. There is a pressure chamber above the diaphragm for holding the valve member on its valve seat and a filter and a bypass orifice connecting an inlet and the pressure chamber. The filter includes a ring 56 positioned beneath the diaphragm and adjacent the outer periphery thereof. The ring and diaphragm are fixed relative to each other. The ring has a plurality of outwardly directed circumferentially spaced filter grooves 60. A seal ring 62 between the filter ring and the body faces the grooves. A peripheral chamber 68 is bounded by the seal ring, the filter ring and the body, water reaching the peripheral chamber by passing through the filter ring grooves. An orifice connects the peripheral chamber and the pressure chamber. Pegs 28 may hold the filter ring and diaphragm together one of which may form the bypass orifice (see figure 4).
|
