Procedure for measuring and interpreting a digital colour printer's print quality. The values to be measured, such as the dynamic field, modulation transfer function and background noise, are read manually and/or automatically by measuring equipment. The values to be measured using the procedure are produced in the form of a coordinate system, so that the dynamic field is shown on one axis in the coordinate system; the modulation transfer function appears on another axis in the coordinate system; and the background noise is shown as the dynamic field's variation around its mean value, also as the variation in the modulation transfer function around its mean value. <IMAGE>
