The invention comprises 1-hydroxy-4-(21-cyano)-ethylaminoanthraquinone and a method of making it by heating quinizarin with 2-cyanoethylamine in an organic solvent such as a low-boiling alcohol, e.g. ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, or butyl alchol. The product dyes acetate rayon, polyamide, and polyester fibres. Examples describe the above preparation using propyl alcohol as solvent, and the use of the product to dye acetate rayon. |
