PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording material excellent in glossiness, ink absorbing speed, ink absorbing capacity, printing density and light fastness. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recording material having one or more recording layer, fine colloidal particles of amorphous silica and/or aluminosilicate composed of secondary particles with an average particle size of 10-300 nm formed by the flocculation of primary particles with an average particle size of 3-40 nm and an ultraviolet absorber are added to at least one recording layer.
