PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make satisfactory formation of image possible without allowing a blank area to occur on shifting from the color mode to the black mode even in the case where a recording head wherein the rear end of a color head projects beyond the rear end of a black head is used. SOLUTION: The rear end of a color head projects beyond the rear end of a black head. On shifting from the color mode to the black mode, the rear end of the black head passes a line e, a finishing point for the color area, at (5). Therefore, in the case where only the color head exists at the finishing point for the color area, the mode shifting point is set at a point where both of the color head and the black head exist, for instrance at a line f corresponding to the rear end of the black head. Then, recording is performed in the color mode until the line f. Thereby, a blank area is not produced between the line e and the line f. |
