摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting tool that is made of an alumina-based ceramic of excellent abrasion and is suitably useful for high-speed cutting of quenched steel. SOLUTION: The objective cutting tool made of alumina-based ceramic is composed of the following ternary-phase alumina based ceramic phase: (A) 20-30 wt.% of Ti-Zr carbonitride solid solution phase in which 5-20 atomic % of Zr based on the total amount of Ti and Zr, (B) 10-20 wt.% of Ti-Zr carbonitride solid solution phase in which 5-30 wt.% of Ti based on the total amount of Zr and Ti and (C) the remaining which substantially comprises the alumina main phase.
