On a low-μroad surface, excessive action of engine brake originating from the gear ratio being controlled to a greater minimum gear ratio Csmin is avoided by generating an engine torque of a certain size in which the fuel cut is prohibited, and a braking effect due to an appropriate engine brake is obtained, and the drawing-in of engine torque at the time of the acceleration pedal of being stamped again can be avoided, so that the frequency of braking operation, etc., on low-μroad surface can be reduced and also a change in the engine torque be suppressed to lead to the suppression of the change in the behavior of vehicle.
