PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a vehicle from excessively approaching a preceding vehicle during vehicle speed control, prevent a forward/backward G change due to the acceleration/deceleration of the preceding vehicle, and smoothly start inter- vehicle distance control after the vehicle speed control is completed. SOLUTION: A target vehicle speed V'2 is set by an operation member, and the minimum target inter-vehicle distance L' corresponding to a vehicle speed detection value V is set during the operation of the operation member. An inter-vehicle distance detection value L is set to the target inter-vehicle distance L' immediately after the action of the operation member, then the target inter-vehicle distance L' corresponding to the vehicle speed detection value V is set.
