PCB DETOXIFYING TREATMENT AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a necessary amount of metal Na by a safe and relatively easy operation and to execute a PCB detoxifying treatment by using the metal Na at an individual treating site. SOLUTION: The metal Na is obtained by electrolyzing a fused caustic soda or a fused sodium chloride by interposing a partition consisting ofβalumina. The obtained metal Na is mixed with a PCB containing liq. to be treated such as PCB-containing electrical insulating oil used for an electrical equipment such as transformer, and the PCB incorporated in the liq. to be treated is converted to biphenyls by a dechlorinating reaction. An insulating oil content after treating is separated and removed as a series of stages.
