PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new gene capable of giving plants having resistance to lepidopteran by comprising an artificial synthetic gene coding for a protein which has trypsin inhibiting activity, designed to stably express in rice plants. SOLUTION: The new artificially synthesized gene coding for the protein having trypsin inhibiting activity which contains the base sequence coding for the amino acid sequence from Glu of the first position to Ser of the 172nd position expressed by the formula, or the base sequence coding for the amino acid sequence having one or several amino acids deleted or added to this amino acid sequence, designed to stably express in rice plants, useful for enduing new characters such as resistance to lepidopteran, etc., to useful plants. The gene is obtained by designing the sequence of the trypsin inhibitor comparing with the amino acid sequence of a plant derived chymotrypsin inhibitor using a DNA database. |
