PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure sound vibration performance and simultaneously increase shaft collapse amount in a collapsible steering mechanism. SOLUTION: Because notch 16 which allows backward motion of an universal joint 6 which connects a lower shaft 3 to an intermediate shaft 4 at the time of vehicle's frontal impart is placed at the front bottom of a steering column 1, backward motion amount of the lower shaft 3 that is shaft collapse amount in a collapsible steering mechanism, can be increased without changing attachment points to a car body side at the upper part and lower part of the steering column 1. Therefore, shaft collapse amount is increased and simultaneously sound vibration performance is secured. |
