The roller includes an illumination element (4) with an allocated power supply (5). Preferably, the illumination element is integrated in the tread of the rollers. A lamp, an LED or a semiconductor laser diode is used as the illumination element. The power supply is provided by a battery, by a dynamo, or by solar cells.
