Regeneration system for particle filter in internal combustion engine exhaust
摘要
A particle filter (4) in the exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, e.g. a diesel engine, is regenerated by reducing the flow rate in the exhaust duct downstream of the filter. Regeneration is achieved using a valve (5) to reduce the cross-section of the duct by up to 95 percent. This increases the pressure and temperature of the exhaust gasses to the regeneration temperature for the filter. The exhaust flow is restricted in a periodic pattern for between 1 to 10 seconds. A control system determines the state of the filter by comparing engine parameters against programmed parameters.
