When coded video and audio signals are decoded by means of a computer, it becomes considerably difficult to decode the signals in real time depending upon the performance of the used CPU, because the computing amount required per unit time is stupendous. For the audio signals, in addition, such a trouble as the slow-down sound, skipped sound, etc., occur when all the data are not outputted in real time. A decoding method, wherein, when decoding coded video or audio signals by using a PC, audio signals can be reproduced in real time by comparing target decoding ending time for realizing real-time reproduction of the audio signals with actual decoding ending time for every decoding unit and, when the actual decoding ending time is delayed from the target decoding ending time, by temporarily interrupting video signal decoding or lowering the priority of the video signal decoding. A decoding method, wherein scheduling is performed for efficiently performing data input, audio signal decoding, and video signal decoding by using a buffer of at least three frames at the time of decoding coded video or audio signals by using a PC.
|
