PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image of high image density and high resolving power. SOLUTION: In this method, two-component development including a process for forming a developer image on an image carrier is carried out, by feeding a two-component developer 12 consisting of two-component developer including a toner and a carrier on a developer carrying body that has been arranged to an image carrier at intervals, by conveying the two-component developer 12 to the developing region where the developer carrying body is brought near to the image carrier, by applying a developing bias voltage to the developer carrying body, and by developing the electrostatic latent image formed on the image carrying body using the two-component developer 12. In this case, when the void ratio A of the developer 12 in the developing region is expressed by the expressions A=1-B/D, and B=M(1-TC)/ρc +M(Tc )/ρT, the porosity A is made to be within the range of 0.5 to 0.8. In the expressions, D = developing gap, B = net thickness of developer layer, M = weight per cm<3> of developer layer, Tc = toner density, ρc = true specific gravity of carrier (g/cm<3> ), ρT = true specific gravity of toner (g/cm<3> ). |
