PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound at a low temperature, by adding a hydroxyl group-containing compound to an alkyne, etc., in the presence of an amorphous zinc silicate catalyst, etc. SOLUTION: A compound of the formula R<1> OH (R<1> is H, an aliphatic or alicyclic group) is added to an acetylene or allene of formula I or formula II (R is H, an aliphatic or alicyclic group) in a gas phase at <200 deg.C in the presence of a catalyst containing 1-40 wt.% calculated as oxide of zinc or cadmium-containing X-ray amorphous zinc silicate or cadmium silicate as an active ingredient and obtained by applying a zinc or cadmium salt and an organic oxo acid decomposable at <400 deg.C to an amorphous silicic acid and forming the catalyst at 50-500 deg.C before the reaction and at 50-200 deg.C during the substitute in the presence of a hydroxyl group-containing compound such as water and a 1-6C alkanol to give the objective compound of formula III or formula IV ((m) is 0 or 1). |
