PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform speedy transfer between rings and to enable a broadband communication by using a hierarchical ring structure for a high-frequency communication between devices included in a computer system. SOLUTION: The computer system 10 includes bridge modules 12A to 12D which are interconnected in rings 14A to 14D. The rings 14A to 10D have time- division multiplex constitution and frames are carried with time slots on the rings. The bridge modules 12A to 12D determine whether or not frames circulating on a source ring should be transmitted onto a target ring according to the addresses held in the frames. Then when the address of a frame indicates a module on the source ring, the bridge modules 12A to 12D resend the frame to the source ring and when not, the frame is sent to the target ring. |
