MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic recording medium which suppresses the phenomenon that noise increases owing to storage and has high output in short wavelength recording with <=0.8μm median recording wavelength required for a small-sized high image quality videotape, etc. SOLUTION: A magnetic coating film contg. a magnetic metal powder and an inorg. powder having a Mohs hardness of >=5 is formed on one side of a substrate and a back coat layer contg. carbon black in the form of aggregates or primary particles having a larger diameter than the major axis size of the magnetic metal powder is formed on the other side to obtain the objective magnetic recording medium. The inorg. powder having a Mohs hardness of >=5 is made of a metal oxide and the thickness of the magnetic coating film is <=3.0μm.
