<p>An evaporator assembly concentrates especially sugar juice during the production of sugar, and has housing (2) around a liquid distributor (4) over a heating chamber (3), and an expansion zone (5). The expansion zone (5) is located above the liquid distributor (4) and heating chamber (3). The novelty is that: (a) the expansion zone (5) is a tub (13) open at the top, and into which the fluid inlet (9) extends (b) the fluid inlet pipe (9) is surrounded by an inverted tub with hanging curtain sides (14b); (c) the upper tub (14) is of greater diameter than the lower tub (13) ; (c) the lower rim of the upper tub walls (14b) extend to below the upper rim of the lower tub walls (13b); (d) the lower tub (13) has a number of apertures (13c) in its base.</p> |
