PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject material that can improve the growing environment for organisms and contributes to conservation of natural environment and improvement in productivity of agricultural products by allowing the glass obtained by calcining and melt-treating urban waste to contain the components effective for growing organisms and lightening the weight by heat treatment. SOLUTION: Urban water or its firing residue is preferably fired and melt- treated in a reductive atmosphere and solidified by cooling to form bulk glass. Then, the bulk glass is crushed into particles of suitable particle sizes and the glass particles are mixed with 3-30 wt.% of components effective for growing organisms (for example, phosphorus, potassium, carbon and the like) as an admixture and with a small amount of a forming agent. This mixture is made light in its weight and porous by heating at 800-1,100 deg.C, when needed, the porous product is soaked with or combined with rapidly effective components for growing organisms, or allowed to carry a microorganism, and further impregnated with or combined with a humic substance thereby giving the objective environmental and agricultural material. |
