PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent density irregularity from occurring and to obtain excellent image quality extending over a long term by arranging an electric field imparting means imparting an electric field in a direction where ion having a polarity reverse to toner is separated from the surface of an image carrier at a prescribed position opposed to the surface of the image carrier. SOLUTION: The electric field imparting electrode 27 imparting the electric field in the direction where the ion having the polarity reverse to the toner is separated from the image carrier 1 is arranged in an area where the surface of the carrier 1 arrives at the position of a cleaning means after it is passed through a transfer area K and at the position opposed to the surface of the carrier 1. Thus, the electric field in the direction where the ion attached to the surface of the carrier 1 is separated from the surface of the carrier 1 is imparted between the electrode 27 and the surface of the carrier 1. In response to it, the ion is concentrated in a solvent scraped by the cleaning means. Therefore, the amount of the ion on the surface of the carrier 1 passed through the cleaning means can be reduced and the density irregularity is prevented from occurring. |
