PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ascertain the amount of fissile materials contained in every waste by a non-destructive measurement method prior to disposing the wastes to reduce difference in sensitivity dependent on positions, and to make it possible to measure and detect traces of fissile materials in middle parts. SOLUTION: In this method, in analysis of data obtained by an active neutron method, fast neutrons emitted from a neutron generating tube being scattered and slowed down in a waste solid as an object of measurement and turning into thermal neutrons, enumerable components of fission neutrons, which are emitted when the thermal neutrons fission fissile materials in the waste solid, being selectively abstracted and a total sum of the enumerated values of the components being found, the total sum of the enumerated values is taken as a value indicative of the total amount of fissile material contained in the waste solid as the object of measurement.
