Power is produced from a hydrocarbon fuel and water vapor heated in a solar reformer to form hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Producing power from a hydrocarbon (HC) fuel and water vapor comprises: (1) supplying hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO) from a solar reformer to a steam generator for producing steam and heat depleted H2 and CO; (2) supplying exhaust gases from the exhaust of a gas turbine to the steam generator; (3) supplying the steam to a superheater for producing superheated steam; (4) supplying the heat depleted H2 and CO from the steam generator to a preheater for preheating the hydrocarbon fuel prior to supplying the hydrocarbon fuel to the solar reformer and producing preheated HC fuel and further heat depleted H2 and CO; (5) adding the superheated steam to the preheated HC fuel prior to supplying the preheated HC fuel to the solar reformer; and (6) supplying the further heat depleted H2 and CO to a Rankine cycle power plant for producing power and cooled and dried H2 and CO.
|
