Laboratory sampler

A laboratory sampler receives a number of samples which it then reduces to a representative cross-section (e.g. 1 in 50) of the entire batch of samples, the unused samples being disposed of. The sampler has a housing (2) with a lid (60) discharging to a funnel (9). The funnel (9) discharges to a capture funnel (50) for samples to be tested. The lid (60) has a vertically extending distributor tube (77) rotating around the housing (2) vertical axis (4). The tube (77) extends into the housing (2), continuing into a lower mouthpiece (78) which is inclined down and out. As the tube (77) rotates it occasionally covers the capture funnel (50), releasing a sample.
