The invention concerns a treatment plant (100) for treating polluted liquid effluents comprising a series of treatment tanks connected to a sedimentation tank module (14) for separating liquid sludge from the supernatant clear water through an overflow device (64), a chemical agent being injected into each treatment tank to produce a predetermined chemical reaction according to the type of effluent to be treated. The tanks comprise at least an inlet module (12, 96) and/or an outlet module (122) for the supernatant, located respectively above and beneath the sedimentation tank module (14) enabling the liquid to flow by gravity from the inlet module (12). Complementary linking means (78) are arranged for stacking the various modules (12, 14, 96, 122) height-wise to constitute a self-supporting modular structure resting on the ground. The invention is applicable to modular treating plants deliverable in a kit with single or multiple physico-chemical or biological treatment.
